Carlos Baerga

Carlos Baerga

Star
WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW HIM:
In the early 1990s, Carlos Baerga was one of the better second basemen in the American League. A decent fielder, Baerga was known more for his offensive production from both sides of the plate as a switch-hitter. He hit .300 four straight years for Cleveland and batted third in the powerful Indians lineup ahead of Albert Belle and other big bats. Baerga collected 200 hits and drove in 100 runs in 1992 and 1993, becoming only the third second baseman to do both in consecutive seasons. But he suffered a series of back injuries, and he played his last full season when he was 29.
