Dave Martinez

Dave Martinez

Journeyman
WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW HIM:
Martinez is perfectly suited to be a manager: he was always being replaced in his playing career, losing his job, being “fired” in a sense. He was a useful outfielder because he could play any position, but he didn’t hit lefties very well, and in the 1990s, his managers always wanted to find a power hitter to replace him. Still, he somehow played more than 1,900 games despite being a regular in five seasons.
